Isn’t it so outrageous that after over 40 years of so called freedom the government has to blatantly abuse the concept of freedom on the same day that Kenyans are supposed to celebrate the “freedom” commemorative day? What a mockery of freedom!
For over 40 years presidents and members of parliament have stood on sheltered and security ridden independence day podiums (while we wananchi sit in the rain or scorching sun) to remind Kenyans about have how our grand fathers, grandmothers, mothers, uncles and aunts shed their blood and lost their freedoms and lives so that we can have freedom. But really, whose freedom? Freedom from what?
Freedom form basic things that deny Mwananchi the dignity of citizenship, of being human- freedom from hunger, disease, ignorance, poverty; freedom of speech, freedom of movement anywhere in the country including nyayo stadium, freedom to wear anything including T shirts and to speak out when we Wananchi are not happy with the politicians.
For how long must our freedoms be curtailed? For how long must our generational blood be shed? When will Mwananchi be free and reap the benefits of freedom? It seems that the only time leaders talk about freedom , is really about their own freedom. It is their freedom to have UNGA when the rest of the Wananchi are starving despite the world moving pre-election manifestos on how wananchi will be free when elected. We wananchi get incited to shed our wananchi blood for the leaders elections hoping to reap the above freedoms which the leaders have promised us.
And what do we Wananchi get? The only thing that has been constant over the 40 years has been how the elected leaders have ensured their own freedom to deny wanacnchi’s freedoms. In reality, the only thing leaders give wananchi is “freedom from freedom”.
Wananchi wenzangu, , for how long must our freedoms be abused? For how long must we wananchi lose our freedoms for the sake of these politicians who once elected abuse our votes by muzzling the freedoms which we shed our blood to defend?
The truth? We have been looking for freedom from the wrong direction and the wrong people. Believing that leaders will give us wananchi freedoms.
Wrong. Dead Wrong.
THESE LEADERS, MURDERERS OF FREEDOM, WILL NOT DO IT FOR US.
We, the Wananchi MUST DO IT FOR OURSELVES.
WE MUST RECLAIM OR FREEDOM.
Freedom is in our hands Wananchi wenzangu! Wananchi? Time is up. From Today, we shall not accept the “freedom from freedom” imposed on us by leaders. We refuse. We Must say no Today.
- WE SAY No to the denial of or freedoms.
- WE SAY No More to leaders who subject us to hunger when we grow crops that are taken offshore and cause artificial shortage.
- WE say NO to killing ourselves so or leaders can live large.
- We say NO to leaders refusing to pay tax when the poor are taxed to subsidize the stinking rich leaders
- WE SAY NO to leaders who only allow us to shout freedom only when they want or votes.
- We say No to being jailed and detained for no reason.
We Say No. NEVER AGAIN. No never. SAY NO!
